Our Cornwall Junior Karateka Of The Year 2020 Is Mabel Cheyne.
After a delayed start to our training this year due to the latest lockdown we finally managed to re-open the club this past week after 3 months of being forced to shut.. One of the first things we had to address was our annual karateka of the year presentation which is usually awarded early January to the standout student over the past 12 months.
Pictured receiving her award with Sennen Karate Club instructor Luke Jackson, with her fellow students in the background showing their support for her achievement.
Mabel was chosen for this award by Instructors of both Sennen and Marazion clubs due to her adapting well to the first lockdown last March, being one of only a couple of students who watched the online classes we pre-recorded for them each week. Mabel is ever present at class and is a joy to teach, her enthusiasm and attitude is spot on. Mabel is always keen to help her fellow students during class often showing them how to improve their technique.
Mabel takes over from our pervious winner Phillippa Gopsil who unfortunately couldn’t be there on the night to hand over the trophy.
A big well done Mabel, keep up the good work!!!
