The Karateka of the Year award was first donated to the club by a former member before he retired. Between the Sennen and Marazion clubs we pick one student who has shown something special in the previous year. We look at not just technical skill, but spirit of cooperation, hard work in the sessions, overcoming adversity and all the qualities we look for in a martial artist. As is often the case, there were a few good candidates this time, but standing out amongst them was Enid Kirk from the Marazion club.
Enid is not naturally sporty, but has been doing fantastically well in overcoming her instinct to believe she can’t do it. She can, and is technically equal to anyone of a similar amount of experience. It has been great to see her confidence improving week by week and to see her personality and sense of humour coming through. Well done, Enid!
