In the final lessons of 2023 students at Sennen Karate Club dressed up in an array of fancy dress costumes. Although the aim of the fancy dress was for the kids (and instructors) to have some fun before Christmas, there was another important reason to get dressed up.

Finn Edwards a 17 year old student and a member of the club for over 7 years will be undertaking a very worthwhile challenge on the 1st January 2024. Finn will be “braving the shave” to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support who are currently supporting Finns dad and many others through their cancer treatment.

Club instructor Luke Jackson wanted to find a way to help Finns cause so came up with the idea of holding a special fancy dress week, where all money raised from student fees would be donated to Finns fundraising cause. At the end of a fun and enjoyable evening the sum of £85 was raised and will be donated on behalf of the club to Finn. A big thank you to all the children who attended and made the effort to dress up, your costumes were fantastic. Hope you all had a great night.

Luke had the following to say on Finns fundraising efforts; “Finn has been a fantastic servant of this club, always showing a real good desire to learn and to push himself to get better and better. His good natured, easily approachable character has made him a popular member amongst our younger students, who look up to him and respect his help. Finn has shown time and time again that he is always happy to help out with various club roles including admin work and fee collection as well as teaching. The club wishes Finn every bit of success with reaching his fundraising goals and look forward to seeing him back in the new year with his new look. Well done Finn everyone at the club is proud of you!!”

You can check out Finns progress and donate to Finns cause,  don’t forget to check back after the 1st January to see his before and after photos.

We will return to training on Friday 5th January 2024, I hope everyone has a very happy Christmas and a happy new year, thanks as always for your continued support!!!
