If not then maybe our Kids Karate Classes is what your looking for. Our students all started karate for their own reasons, some wanted to improve their fitness, whilst others wanted to learn to defend themselves or to gain confidence. There are many reasons why people want to learn karate, hopefully we can hear about yours in the near future.

I want to be totally honest with you from the start, karate is not a quick fix, you will not suddenly become super fit, or be a karate master over night, it takes time, lots of time. You’ll be tested physically and mentally but will learn how to improve them both over the course of your training. Karate training involves lots of repetition and requires lots of dedication and hours of training to get any good at it.

Is it all worth it… Absolutely! Having seen the individual improvements and progress our students past and present have made i can assure you if you have the correct mentality and allow yourself to enjoy the journey the benefits are endless.

 

HOW ARE WE DIFFERENT TO MOST MARTIAL ARTS SCHOOLS

UNLIKE A LOT OF MARTIAL ARTS SCHOOLS WE'RE NOT DRIVEN BY MONEY NOR DO WE FAST TRACK STUDENTS THROUGH THE GRADES TO FEED OUR EGOS, WE WANT OUR STUDENTS TO PROGRESS BUT AT THEIR OWN PACE AS INDIVIDUALS, NOT TO FEEL PRESSURED TO KEEP UP WITH THE GROUP

In our style we train in a non aggressive or intimidating manner, there is no required level of fitness needed to begin. You don’t have to be fit, supple or athletic before you start. All these qualities will improve over time with your training, wherever you start from. It is never too late to begin your karate journey.

Unfortunately the word “Karate” has this perception associated with it where most believe it to be a hard, aggressive fitness activity tailored towards your typical macho men. This is not true and although there are some hard styles of karate out there, we are not one of them. Some of our highest graded and longest serving students are female. We train not to injure each other or intimidate one another but to train together, safely to encourage one another so you enjoy it and want to keep training.

This perception attached to karate is sadly depriving men, but mainly women from learning it, and more importantly learning potentially life saving self-defence techniques, which is becoming increasingly more valuable in today climate.

Physical Health Karate can have a great impact on your physical health, improving general fitness, flexibility, agility, strength and suppleness as well as aiding weight loss (along with good diet), reducing cholesterol and blood pressure.
Mental Toughness We often find our mind wandering, thinking about every day stress in our lives. Karate teaches us to become more focused by recognizing when we are off-task and taking action, teaching you to regroup by interrupting your train of thought and prepare to refocus by directing your attention back to the present.

Social Life
In adulthood, it can be very tough for some to find peers with mutual interests and outlooks. Martial arts is a great place to meet new people, from all walks of life, and the shared dedication to their art can help bond people. Lifelong friends are made all the time at martial arts gyms; going through difficult trials – such as gradings or simply mastering a move you find tricky – can really help create social bonds between friends.

Confidence Due to our well researched and refined syllabus set for each grade, students are able to set and surpass regular targets and milestones leading them to experience a sense of accomplishment that bolsters self-esteem and instils a “can-do” attitude allowing the student to build confidence in themselves and form a trust relationship with their fellow students whilst improving their social skills.
Self-Defence and Personal Safety Self-defence has many aspects – conflict avoidance, physical evasion, the use of effective striking techniques, manipulation and locking techniques, groundwork, and so much more. Learning self defence builds your confidence and increases your ability to protect yourself and your family.

Tuesday Marazion Karate Club Cornwall 6-8pm
Wednesday Radley Karate Club Oxford 6-8pm
Friday Sennen Karate Club Cornwall 8-9pm

All our clubs are taught in English and are run by fully qualified instructors. Our Cornwall Karate Clubs are based in the South West of Cornwall in Sennen and Marazion and our Oxford Karate Club is based in Radley.
