Our students all started karate for their own reasons, some wanted to improve their fitness, whilst others wanted to learn to defend themselves or to gain confidence. There are many reasons why people want to learn karate, hopefully we can hear about yours in the near future.

I want to be totally honest with you from the start, karate is not a quick fix, you will not suddenly become super fit, or be a karate master over night, it takes time, lots of time. You’ll be tested physically and mentally but will learn how to improve them both over the course of your training. Karate training involves lots of repetition and requires lots of dedication and hours of training to get any good at it.

Is it all worth it… Absolutely! Having seen the individual improvements and progress our students past and present have made i can assure you if you have the correct mentality and allow yourself to enjoy the journey the benefits are endless.

Unlike a lot of martial arts schools we’re not driven by money nor do we fast track students through the grades to feed our egos, we want our students to progress but at their own pace as individuals, not to feel pressured to keep up with the group

In our style we train in a non aggressive or intimidating manner, there is no required level of fitness needed to begin. You don’t have to be fit, supple or athletic before you start. All these qualities will improve over time with your training, wherever you start from. It is never too late to begin your karate journey.

Unfortunately the word “Karate” has this perception associated with it where most believe it to be a hard, aggressive fitness activity tailored towards your typical macho men. This is not true and although there are some hard styles of karate out there, we are not one of them. Some of our highest graded and longest serving students are female. We train not to injure each other or intimidate one another but to train together, safely to encourage one another so you enjoy it and want to keep training.

This perception attached to karate is sadly depriving men, but mainly women from learning it, and more importantly learning potentially life saving self-defence techniques, which is becoming increasingly more valuable in today climate.

OUR CLUBS

We have three clubs based in Cornwall and Oxford which offer karate classes for adults. Sennen Karate Club is based in Cornwall and provides adult karate classes every Friday at Sennen Community Centre. Marazion Karate Class is our second Cornwall club and offers adult karate classes every Tuesday evening at the School Hall in Marazion. Finally our Oxford based karate club is located in Radley and they offer karate classes for adults every Monday and Wednesday at the Radley College Sports Centre.

Fully Qualified

KARATE INSTRUCTORS

All our instructors are fully qualified and hold an active DBS check. They are first aid trained, hold relevant safeguarding qualifications and a personal insurance. All our instructors have a minimum 6 years training under their belt.
